Developing Reading for Pleasure

We nurture a love of reading by holding book themed days, celebrating World Book Day, World Poetry Day and Roald Dahl Day, holding creative weeks, author visits, and library visits etc as individual classes and across the whole school. 

Book Fayres are held to allow all children the chance to look at new books of all genres and hopefully purchase a new book of their own to take home!

Children receive books as a 'gift' at Christmas and we hold regular books sales to enable all pupils to purchase quality books at a reduced price. 
 

Our children are given the opportunity to take home Reading for Pleasure books from a wide selection of stories on a daily basis. In the Early Years we have an Outdoor Reading Shed where they can change these books with an adult, in Key stage One they do this independently as and when they choose.
