Attendance
It is very important that children attend school regularly. The link between school attendance and attainment in school is clear. The more a pupil is in school the more they increase their opportunity to fulfil their potential.
We will always try to work closely in partnership with our families to support their child's learning and to overcome any barriers that prevent good attendance.
Our registers are taken each day at 8.45am, the doors open for all children children at 8.30am. The school day finishes at 3.00pm. We require all infant children to be collected each day by a familiar adult.
We are required to keep and monitor records of attendance, absence and lateness and this data is submitted to the Local Authority. If your child can not attend school please telephone the school office before 8:45am on each day of their absence on 01900812268. Please let us know in advance, of any medical appointments and bring in appointment cards/letters.
In particular, we need to stress how important it is that you don't take holidays in term time as it disrupts your child's learning. In keeping with the Local Authority directive we will not authorise term-time absence unless you can evidence exceptional circumstances.
Compulsory school age is defined as being the term commencing on or after a child’s fifth birthday. However, at Grasslot Infant School we like to promote good attendance habits as soon as your child starts school.
